Le Quartier Francais (the French Quarter) is a small, privately owned auberge situated in the French Huguenot valley of Franschhoek, in the Cape Winelands.

With a warm, world class service - yet a simple elegant approach Le Quartier Francais offers the ultimate luxury and romantic charm, combined with the priceless gift of privacy, tucked away in the centre of the village.

Tucked away in secluded quiet gardens a delightful haven of peace and tranquillity is offered. A total gastronomic experience can be enjoyed here. Sticky buns for breakfast, bistro lunches on the terrace and award-winning cutting edge cuisine by Margot Janse and her team in the Tasting Room. Margot uses seasonally sourced foods, so guests can expect to see Wildebeest, Franschhoek Trout or Ganzvlei Vastrap Cheddar on the table. Le Quariter Francais' signature restaurant, The Tasting Room is not to be missed as it is ranked as one of the best restaurants in the world. You can chose from an all out eight-course tasting menu, or choose one of the more manageable four- or six-course menus.

Le Quartier Francais is the ideal choice to relax and enjoy the undulating winelands that surround you, here you'll have a choice of three different rooms. There are the four quarter suites generously sized and overlooking a central courtyard and lap pool. Each suite is decorated using the ultimate in luxury fittings, fabrics, finishes and artwork by local talent. The Four Quarters is ideal for families travelling together or group bookings and, for those seeking a little 'me-time'.

Or there is the owner's original home that has been converted into 2 very comfortable suites with private pools in walled gardens. Ideal for those people wanting complete privacy. There are also loft rooms especially kitted out for children under the age of 12.

Alternatively you might be more suited to one of the fifteen luxury rooms built around a central pool and surrounded by scented white and blue gardens. Each spacious room is individually decorated and offers the comfort of home with extra little touches that make the difference.

Le Quartier Francais suites are in a variety of configurations and sizes, from standard yet very comfortable doubles (which are quite large) to enormous and exclusive suites. You can enjoy a varierty of relaxing treatments with (Decleor Paris products) in the full-service spa, or visit the inn's Moreson winery, which has an excellent Bread & Wine restaurant.

Le Quartier Francais is steeped in the history. The original structures were the labourers' cottages later renovated when Michael and Cheryl Trull opened the first restaurant on this site; known as "1688", it was a simple country restaurant which was later purchased in 1984 by Adre and Arthur MacWilliam Smith and they changed the name to Le Quartier Francais and put it on the map with its outstanding cuisine.

The winelands are superb for relaxation, fabulous food, breathtaking landscapes and of course world class wine and a variety of activities. Whilst here you can enjoy horse riding or biking from estate to estate, nature walks in the hills, and of course wine cellar tours and unforgettable dining experiences at some of South Africa's best restaurants.
